Kenya: Kiambu Constructs Sh160 Million Hospital at Tigoni

Posted on : Monday , 6th July 2015

Tigoni — Residents of Tigoni in Kiambu County are set to benefit from a hospital upgrade by the county government.

The Sh160 million 200-bed capacity hospital to be constructed at the Tigoni Health Centre will benefit residents who have had to grapple with congestion in the wards especially accident victims.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has reiterated his government's commitment to better health service delivery.

"My government is constructing, renovating and equipping hospitals across the county. We are committed to improving the public health," he said.

Kabogo was among the first Governors to sign up for the national government's Sh38 billion health equipment project.

He noted that Tigoni and Lari lacked major hospitals yet they receive many patients especially accident victims using the Nairobi-Nakuru route.

Kabogo announced the county government's plan to build a Sh6 billion hospital in Lari under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the American Landmark Health Centre.

He noted that although there were challenges with staffing, the county government was in the process of hiring more nurses.
